The Story
The Story
In a world that moves faster and louder, Silk & Herb returns to a quieter standard of care, simple, deliberate, and beautifully made.
From Cocoon to Bar
Every bar begins with silk cocoons grown in Shiquan County, Shaanxi Province - a region with a documented silk-farming heritage. Through a specialized hydrolysis process, the raw silk is broken down into hydrolyzed silk protein, then infused into the soap alongside thoughtfully chosen botanical oils. It's a quiet transformation from cocoon to protein to something you'll hold in your hands every day.
The Craft
We follow an ancient method of soap-making with pure natural oils and botanical extracts, saponified slowly at a constant low temperature of 45°C, a level gentle enough that the beneficial nutrients in every ingredient survive the process rather than breaking down under heat. Each batch moves through 18 standardized procedures, including a full 24 hours of constant-temperature, constant-humidity incubation, to ensure the saponification completes exactly as it should.
Then we wait. Every bar cures in darkness for 60 days, held at a carefully controlled humidity using dehumidifiers and climate control, until it reaches its final character. Nothing is rushed to shorten that window. The 60 days is what allows the natural active ingredients to fully mature without being lost.
Four Principles
Everything we make is guided by four principles:
Natural - ingredients drawn from the raw earth
Pure - nothing added that doesn't need to be there.
Rustic - simple in form, honest in character, never over-designed.
Eco-Friendly - a lather that biodegrades easily, crafted with a lighter footprint in mind.
How It Feels
Skin feels moisturized, never tight, after washing, and smoother the longer you use it. Nothing rushed, nothing overcomplicated. What touches the body should feel calm, clear, and intentional, like a daily ritual you look forward to.
Silk & Herb is refinement without noise: patient craft, honest materials, timeless simplicity.
